Using holistic farming techniques, Martin Bernal-Hafner of Alta Orsa crafts wines that are good on the planet and good on the palate. This 100% Chardonnay is light and racy yet balanced, with citrus and mineral notes that pair perfectly with oysters, smoked salmon sandwiches, and sunny afternoons with friends.

Martin’s winemaking process is both meticulous and metaphysical. Natural yet carefully nurtured. Based on science but filled with wonder. While drinking wine may elevate the human experience, Martin believes the unique combination of grapes, terroir, regenerative farming, and human hands shape the larger experience. And so do we.

Meet the maker

Born and raised in Colombia, Martin Bernal-Hafter’s winemaking craft is deeply rooted in agriculture, conservation, and a little dash of magic.

After his first career in finance, Martin and his wife uprooted their lives and moved to Rhone to learn to make wine. Next stop was Mendoza, where Martin served as protege to Paul Hobbs. He followed Hobbs back to Sebastopol, and eventually partnered with Roger Peng to create Alta Orsa—which pairs regenerative farming practices with a strong sense of place, and a healthy dose of wonder.

Crisp and delicious Chardonnay

I’m guessing this is an unoaked Chardonnay. It is delicious and refreshing and so easy to drink- perfect for warm weather sipping!

If you don't like Chardonnay typically like me, this wine will change your mind! Bright citrus and acidity on this wine makes it one of the wines I crave over and over again.

I absolutely adore this Chardonnay. The bright notes of meyer lemon paired with the acidity on the mid-palate makes this a chardonnay I want to come back to again and again!
